NYC Carrie Goes Soft Americana: Channelling Colour

When it comes to canvasing ideas for my shoots, I’ve never really thought about their significance or weight until I see the final edits. With the recent editorial that I did for COACH - I wanted to incorporate a concept that allowed me to really come out of my comfort zone whilst at the same time staying true to my styling. So I thought of - The Carrie Diaries.

Long story short, The Carrie Diaries is a prequel television show of Sex In The City that specifically focuses on Carrie Bradshaw throughout junior high and her experiences trying to make it in New York City, working in a Fashion Magazine. Note: If you haven't watch the show just yet, Google it up I'm sure you'll love it! Like the show, I wanted to capture the same concept. Yes  I’ve had my Instagram account for almost 3 years now and only recently tried to expand my brand and let me tell you.. it’s a tough one. There are so many people like me that are constantly trying everyday to make it or that are trying to get themselves out there. Honestly, the dedication of you guys are what keep me going - its because of you that I create content.

But anyway, what I’m really trying to say is - this project has allowed me in full creative control. Throughout the process of mood boarding, there would be times where I’d sink into my comfort zone - being inspired by the usual greyscale colour schemes, one colour backgrounds etc. Having no specific guide for the shoot, meant I could experiment with bright colours, have a cool funky New York inspired set and a chance to show my new coach Swagger bag customised by yours truly! I was able to incorporate somewhat of myself whilst being Carrie Bradshaw for a few hours.
